Intramural Flag Football Boosts Morale, Fitness Among Military Personnel
National Air and Space Intelligence Center members start a play during a flag football game at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, Oct. 17, 2024. The origins of flag football date back to the World War II era, around the 1940s. Soldiers stationed on military bases played flag football to stay active and maintain their physical fitness without the risks associated with full-contact tackle football.
