WRIGHT PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- The National Air and Space Intelligence Center welcomed Chief Master Sgt. Tabatha Sanders as its newest Command Chief during a change of responsibility ceremony here June 30, 2025.
Sanders took responsibility from Chief Master Sgt. David Southhall who had served in the position since July 2023.
The change of responsibility ceremony is a new U.S. Air Force tradition that carries deep symbolism and reflects the rich heritage of military service. During the ceremony, the act of transferring the colors represents the official passing of authority and responsibility from the outgoing Senior Enlisted Leader to the incoming one. This moment signifies not only a change in leadership, but also the continued commitment to uphold the discipline, readiness, and welfare of the enlisted force within the organization.
After receiving the guidon, Sanders addressed team NASIC for the first time as the command chief.
“I’m truly excited to return to NASIC and work alongside the extraordinary individuals who make this center what it is,” said Sanders. “We are at a pivotal moment—being asked to do more, to prepare for challenges that are rapidly approaching. I have every confidence in your ability to meet the moment, and I want you to know that I’m here to support you every step of the way.”
Prior to her current position, Sanders was the senior enlisted leader of the 55th Operations Group, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.
