In what can only be described as a dominating performance, the Air Force took home gold in both men’s and women’s team divisions for the 2024 Armed Forces Sports Bowling Championship. The Navy took silver leaving Army with the bronze.

Over the last few years the Armed Forces Sports office and Services have worked to bring their programs back from the COVID pandemic. Bowling was one of the last sports to make its comeback. The athletes were thrilled to be battling it out at The Lanes at Fort Meade, Md.

The championship was held over the course of 3 days, with 4 sessions. Individual, doubles, mixed doubles and, of course, team champions were crowned. The last session consisted of a Team Challenge of 12 Baker matches.

The overall men’s division winner was Air Force TSgt McTaggart, Navy’s CPO Zylius winning silver, and CMSgt Chambliss taking bronze. The women’s division went to Maj Crowder for the gold, CPO Scott from the Navy and winning in a one game roll off for bronze, MSgt Sanchez with the Air Force.

Overall, it was an exciting week of play, with over 60 games of bowling played by athletes during competition. I think it’s safe to say, bowling is back baby!
